Is This The Biggest Domain Sale Ever? PrivateJet.com Reportedly Sold for $30M

Move over, Sex.com, PrivateJet.com might just zoom in to the top spot as the biggest pure-domain sale ever. TheDomains.com reports that as per a press release, “Nations Luxury Transportations, LLC” has acquired the domain name, PrivateJet.com for a eye-popping $30.18M in a cash and stock deal from privately held Don’t Look Media.

The Archive.org history for PrivateJet.com is extremely bare. Along with the lack of Screenshots.com entries for the domain, it appears that this was largely a domain only sale (if the sale can be confirmed, that is).

As of now, there is a brand new site on PrivateJet.com which looks like it caters to the high end, luxury market. This can also be gleamed from the press release:

“PrivateJet.com will provide 24/7 in depth coverage of everything related to the ultra high net worth lifestyle and will entertain and fascinate thousands of private jet users all around the world with its daily editorials, breaking news and Private Jet Travel Specials.”

Keep in mind though that the sale hasn’t yet been confirmed, so we’d be wary of toppling Sex.com from the ‘most expensive domain ever’ list.

For the sake of context, Jets.com sold through Sedo.com for $375,000 in 2009. While PrivateJets.com is definitely a fantastic domain catering to a high-end market, $30M seems a little…exaggerated for the domain.

Watch this space for confirmation of the sale.
